I want

I want people to stop trying to legislate other people’s relationships.
I want to have a choice to have whatever relationship I want - boyfriend, girlfriend, live-in lover, husband, platonic chum. I want everyone else to have the same choices.
I want the population of this country to recognize that JUST BECAUSE a noisy group of us [...]

Somewhere, in a room that smells of stale doughnuts and burnt coffee
“Let’s remake 2001: a Space Odyssey.”
“Why would we want feed paranoia about technology and the government?”
“No, no, by fictionalizing the decreasing invasion of privacy we do the opposite - if it’s just a movie, people won’t take it seriously.”

I did not know one could be allergic to foot fungus.
The itching, the blisters - I’d rather have the peeling and itching on my toes, not my hands! AAAARRRRRRRRG!
I keep wringing my hands like a movie baddie. People are starting to wonder. I have all these little blisters just under the skin and benadryl [...]

Proof of life

I’m still around.
Things I am doing - hiking, backpacking, hiking, organizing hikes, joining a writing club, submitting resumes, trying not to do too much paperwork at home after work. Oh, and then there’s the hiking. And the losing weight thing. (Twenty pounds, one pant size.)
Things I am not doing - blogging, commenting, or really much [...]

hm, roots

So I’ve been so overwhelmed and crazy busy on the go, my roots have grown out an inch after a number of years of being a bottle blond. I find that I am more gray than not.
This feels strange to me.
I think I will continue to be blond for a few years yet.

Hiking with Strangers, the sequel

Went backpacking with people I’ve never met before over the weekend.
You know, if an old (60ish) guy has the heaviest pack in the group, he will probably also have back problems and something chronic like diabetes. He will not want to eat actual food. He will take all day to hike the six miles to [...]

Only semi-present

Lots and lots of job stress. If people would only be consistent I wouldn’t have to keep closing cases and the billing wouldn’t be dropping too low.
At least the hiking group outings are going well. I’ve met all kinds of people. Neat people, who sound like they are relatively sane and fun to hike with.

On the assembly line

There have been times that I have had a doctor I liked and wanted to keep. Then I changed jobs….
Now, I have Kaiser. There is a huge Kaiser medical center in town, and each time I require something simple like a prescription I have to go there.
Today I went to the huge four story [...]
